Follow Up...

A sequel to Monday's link on tabloid reporting on asylum seekers.

The thing that pissed me off is that the tone and rhetoric of the Express and the Sun ISN'T for a political belief, it ISN'T for some deep seated principle or social system. IT'S TO SELL FUCKING NEWS PAPERS! As a son for an immigrant, I get extremely vexed at any kind of racial hatred directed at me, for any kind of reason, from personal ignorance or ingrained prejudice, but if it's just to hawk your fucking shit rag around, that makes it even worse. I do believe the asylum system needs to be changed, to be more efficient and fair. But I also believe the perception is worse than the reality.

The public get what the public want. The anger of joe public is real, even if the migrant invasion isn't. The government can't be seen to be standing still whilst rabid dogs bite and scratch, inflaming the situation. To these papers that spread hate, I raise my middle finger.

Another thing: Those who want war in Iraq, but don't like asylum seekers. WHERE DO YOU THINK ALL THE DISPLACED AND HOMELESS IRAQIS WILL GO DURING AND AFTER THE WAR?
