bad not boring
finished that dan brown book. all i can say is that it reminds me of bad action and horror films. that no matter how cheesey the words are or how fake the effects look, you just want to hang around long enough to see how the blonde with the big tits dies or how the cardboard bad guy is going to be killed.
and you can often hold a full in depth conversation while the film is playing, safe in the knowledge you will never miss something important. you can hoover the front room, rearrange your cd collection, text and email your friends, get drunk, anything you please. infact there is only one way to get bored by the book and that is to actually read it.
harold bloom says that you should read deeply, like you are overhearing. if i applied this to deception point i'm sure i would have suffered severe brain trauma. it would have been like the first 10 minutes of scanners. the book is michael ironside. i am the guy with the exploding head. once you're in his grips, you can't escape.
i think one dan brown book is enough for the rest of my life. i will always have the memory of it and with luck will never learn to replicate it.
