adam sandler never ever ceases to amaze me. i thought punchdrunk love was his apex. his buffalo 66 before everything became shit. well, here he is again. and he's quite good. paz vega is also quite good. i want to write more about her, but i don't know anything about her. even with the world at my fingertips and billion of packets of data streaming across the world and through the skies, i just can't be arsed. she is amazing though. the film has no subtitles but you understand. you understand everything about her and what she wants to say. as sandler's character says "she knows it all." lest we forget tea leoni too. what a turn! is she really that same girl? she plays it like sin is going to burst forth from her well defined muscles and sinew. i'm sure she doesn't, but it's like she's shaking throughout the film, like some crazy junkie she grips on to the very edges of life.

lost
i saw episode 3,4,5 and 6. while watching it i got the same feeling as watching the first series of 24 and also the sopranos. i read on ben's blog (9th June 06) that some author describes short stories as a feeling or story you can hold in you head all at the same time. novels are far to big for you to consume all in one go. extrapolating this theory onto other media, this means that film are short stories and tv shows are novels. is that reasonable? you are encountering the story with 2 very different methods of telling. hmm...

for the first time ever i decided to watch the extras before the film to test my theory. and lo and behold the prophesy was fulfilled! the outtakes were better than the film itself.

i saw the outtakes of this too. i want to smack dustin hoffman in the chops. hard. with a breeze block attached to a long chain.

Why the Hoffman hate?
I would agree with the notion that TV shows equates to Novels. Lost is an excellent example of a slow burner; if you like science fiction then the new Battlestar Galactica is excellent too.

lost is good in an exciting way, but it's a bit empty headed still. not seen them all yet though and i can see the addiciton.
The 'twists and turns' in Lost are predictable. One of my favourite past times is annoying Nicky by saying what happens next. It's getting to the point where I might provoke a cuff around the ear as the words: "I bet..." leave my mouth. Don't you hate people like that? People who like to watch a show in peace without other people ruining the plot, I mean.
The addiction to Lost will wear thin. Now 24 - that is another heady flight altogether...*thumbs up*

I have watched the movie...is there something different about the DVD? :)
24 is more of an adrenaline rush but just as predictable as Lost imho for those who are cynical and expect a "twist" at every moment :)
