chiang mai, raliey, ko phi phi, patong (part1)

did nothing that last day in pai. nothing. the next day we boarded a bus to chiang mai. they stopped outside their tour office. we walked to our guest house. we arrived to find a note. it said we had to go to another guest house. i went to the other guest house were the manager followed me back to our orignal guest house and checked us in. when i was filling out the form he asked us how much the room was. it didn't bode well.

chiang mai. temples and food. visited yet more temples. all buddist. saw hundreds of gold buddas. thousands.

ate food. some was good. some was bad. it seems the cheaper the restaurant the better the food. or perhaps i just don't mind paying a pittance for rubbish food.

from chiang mai we flew to phuket and got the hotel to pick us up and drive us to railey. our hotel had a beach. on the left were orange limestone cliffs. on the right were grey and green cliffs. the water was green and the sand yellow. the bay was shallow and you could touch the bottom when you were 20 metres out to sea.

we went on a boat trip. to chicken island and ko poda island. we went to 2 more but i can't remember the names. we went snorkelling. fish are colourful. coral is colourful. as an arrogant self absorbed human i always, for no reason whatsoever, assumed that we had a monopoly on colour. we can create any colour and design our tiny minds can dream of. looking under the water blows that crude assumption to bits and washes it away.

it rained sometimes in raliey. i went swimming in the rain and the whole bay was mine.

after railey we went to ko phi phi and now i am in patong. tonight i fly back to japan. it will all be over in a while.
