NBC "news"
When I heard that NBC got the videos all I could see was a room full of news producers, rubbing their hands, thinking it was the best cocaine Christmas happy heroin holiday present they could have ever got. The biggest story of the year so far and they were gift wrapped something that would explode in the faces of everyone in the world.
I bet they mentioned ratings and exposure. I bet it was all they talked about. Ratings. Exclusives. I bet all they talked about was how to make it as big as possible. It's not enough to have a statue in marble, you need a robot with laser beam eyes and fully functioning legs.
Are they actually allowed to show it? Shouldn't they have to turn it into the police? I bet they all got their lawyers in and that was all they talked about. Can we do this without being sued? Will the amount we are sued for outweigh the exposure we will get and advertising revenue from the ratings? Crunch the numbers, baby.
Do I have to put up with seeing this man on the front page of every news paper? Do I have to see him point a gun at me while I eat toast and drink tea? Do I have to hear his voice, dryly reading his manifesto? Should we pander to the weakest part of the human psyche because we can never have too much false drama and staged excitment? Is news more exciting or less exciting than Hollywood? Does it matter, as long as we get our kicks? Does anyone care?
