Last Post of 2007

Sorry I haven't posted much recently. I've been busy with a new job, and am also now thinking of looking for another new job.

2007 has been a transitional year. I've already mentioned my new job, but entailed with that is all the events that lead to that job and all the things that have happen because of it.

After being reject from another job in early 2007 (as a Regional Manager of the Post Office), I was finally persuaded to do a post graduate journalism course by my aunt. She was about to finish her one at the time and said I could stay at her house in south London with her husband and two young children.

I did the three month course and met some great people. The course taught me a lot about writing, especially how hard it was. And how being a good writer doesn't mean shit if it's not going to be read. And how some people are going to hate your writing no matter how good it is. And how some people are going to love your work no matter how shit it is. How self analysis is one of the most important tools for a writer, and also hardest to use objectively. How journalism is different to writing. How blogging is different to reporting. How certain soft skills are more important that pieces of paper you earned a different lifetime ago.

I finished the course and then got a job. I enjoy the job, but sometimes find it unrewarding. I want to do more. I always want to do more. I want more of everything and like William Blake once said, you don't know you've had enough until you've had more than enough. Well I'm not even close to having enough. I want the best of everything. I want to worst of everything. I want I brightest spotlight on the largest stage. I want the smallest crack in the filthiest corner of the darkest hellhole. I want it still and still don't know when to stop.

2008 can't come soon enough, and I'll drinking in as much as I can before I spew. I hope you join me at the bar.
