Olympic Torch in Hackney, East London
I made my way to see the Olympic torch being carried through my part of London and saw the protests and police. All in all, it was a pretty peaceful protest, though loud, and the police did their best in a difficult situation. I also took some snaps, from the preparation, to the arrival of the torch and finally the aftermath.
Some people supported the torch.
Police were mobilised as the flame approached.
There was a heavy ring of security as the torch went past the protesters.
Police followed the torch until it was put onto the bus to be taken to Canary Wharf
I also managed to take some video, though unfortunately, there is no sound.
In this video, a protester was trying to block the path of the bus that was carrying the Olympic flame and being wrestled away by the police.
