Chinese grocers
I walked around some supermarkets in chinatown. It reminded me of the chinese grocers Wing Wah near Worthing. I used to go there with my parents every weekend. All chinese grocers feel the same, smell the same and all stock the same things. As you approach there is a jungle of strange fruit and vegetable, orange globes, pungent spikey shells, small round red spheres, thin jade plants, fat green leaves and lush crisp bunches. As you enter you see big bottles of soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine, chilli oil, multi coloured boxes of jasmine tea, oolong tea, green tea, stackes of different flavoured instant ramen noddles - chicken, beef, pork, seafood, curry, toku... The fridge is full of green pak choi, chinese cabbage, clear plastic sacks of beansprouts, mango juice, sugar cane water, soya milk and many different tofu and udon packs. The neighbouring frezzer is packed with white chickens feet, pink pig trotters, frosty pancakes, dim sum, gyzors, endemane and slabs of light grey prawns. Toward the checkout the shelves become varicoloured with snacks, sweets, crips, chips, chocolate, cakes, in shiny red, gold, silver packets and plastic boxes. The basket is full of items with no bar codes, but stickers - some with hand written prices. The checkout is maned by fast fingers and the items are scanned lighting eyes. You check your change and leave, with the smell still on your clothes.
I feel really loved up at the moment. I have nothing to say.
Just read my last post, it's a bit forced and contrived isn't it?
